Monocoque Technology

It was found by Mr. Gottlob Auwrter in 1935, it assembled the bus and truck body in the beginning.

t2.jpgIn 1939, the 2nd War started, all the vehicle chassis were  only used for the military equipments, can not be used for other normal purpose; Mr. Gottlob Auwrter got the  idea from carriage to create the monocoque  bus body and chassis.

Monocoque design to make bus more safe, more comfortable
Monocoque design is without big beam chassis, but the driving system and body is one integrant part, just like the body of airplane with tower structure whose body is made from rectangular tubes. This design is with the side panels are welded together with the frame, so it improve the stability of bus, meanwhile, this kind of body is several hundred kilogrammes lighter. Meanwhile, the engine was installed in the rear part of skeleton, which make the bus more safe and more comfortable. Thus, the first modern bus- monocoque body bus was born.


Youngman was founded in 1999, introducing Germany NEOPLAN advanced technology with monocoque  body.

Monocoque is not just the body frame,  is also integrated together with the chassis system, as well as a comprehensive systems engineering. YOUNGMAN inherits the technology and experience of NEOPALN monocoque engineering in manufacturing buses, and cooperate with Zhejiang University in continuous design and R&D, now upgrade the monocoque technology to the 8th generation, which is more systematic and more safe.
Finite element analysis based on the whole vehicle, with finite element 121,099 nodes, 116,452 units, among of them are 2,726 beams. The precise analysis of the structure of the skeleton is to make sure each ARC beam with stress tolerance in case of being by the external force.


Body frame technology
Using computer programs in calculating the side walls, floors, roofs, and other different transverse beams of the frame, with less weight design and modular production; Meanwhile using a variety of new types of special-shaped tube to produce eighth-generation YOUNGMAN monocoque body frame structure, with less weight, but better quality and more safe.

Suspension System
Front axle normally is with Neoplan independent front axle with A-shape structure rear axle to make sure the width between two air bag can reach 1780mm,  the distance between two absorbers can reach 2210mm, so it improve the roll stability.

t10.jpgThe two wheels connect the bodywork independently reducing body vibration to improve the ride comfort and stability; Steering wheel installed in the middle of the axle, more safe with more bigger steering angle; radius is less than similar vehicles, and front wheel track is also more wide than similar vehicles to make the bus more stable.


Rear axle with A-shape structure

t13.jpgNEOPLAN's A-shape structure integrated with the rear axle, its more simple structure, reducing the failure points, meanwhile the driving force is applied to the vehicle to improve driving efficiency. Airbags are installed behind the rear of rear wheels, more space between the airbags; Due to the airbags with more wide section, then it is with more load capacity and longer life.

The side panels are fixed in the frame with adopting electrical heating and glue to reinforce the body structure. The panels are not in direct contact with the skeleton, forming a thermal insulation layer, reducing the thermal conductivity and improving economic performance.

Using the same form of adhesive covered in the roof with  advantages of less weight, waterproof, anti-corrosion, athermancy, thermal insulation, improving air conditioning efficiency.

In the bus field, "monocoque body" means as “birdcage structure", that is, integrated framework technology, the definition difference between non-monocoque and monocoque bus  is just with the "beam" or without "beam“ .

However, from the idea of YOUNGMAN, monocoque  is not just without "beam", a real monocoque bus shall include the followings:

1, perfect body frame structure, rather than the body with the beam to be truncated and being connected by rectangular pipes;

2, advanced body panel technology, providing high strength structure of body frame;

3, Exclusive front and rear axles and suspension system for vehicles to provide better stability. All the above three are indispensable.
